A small strip of sand sits between a river and an ocean at Liwa, Zambales. A few months ago the storm Pedring came and washed wood along the sand. Locals since then have been cleaning these remnants by collecting and burning them.

I found these sitting along that strip waiting to be cleared. These have been exposed to different elements and temperatures, they just look like regular wood washed upon the shore but up close textures are reminiscent of corals and sea creatures.

The Rule
I accept the terms that my waking life must be lived with. No, it isn't as easy as routine, work or money.
Once in a while I taste a sliver of light: alive, warm and engaging; my sudden acceptance becomes unreasonable. But again the light must be ignored, I wile away with music, books and things. Living is the present, I must actively spend it so I may say I am here.
But the wall must come down at night, I find the rule laying on the bed, staring lovingly at itself at the mirror. The mirror offers no insight on how the rule continues it's strangling endeavors. The rule wants to be perfect. Perfect enough that everytime I see it, that it nourishes me to contentment . The rule goes on with it's meaningless banter: its women, its childishness and its uselessness is mine. It is content with my false existence.
My drunken stupor spurs my hidden anger and resentment, but it knows my whims of violence will deny itself in the morning. The rule continues, it knows the strength of how it owns me.
A new day again, I hide that I know of warm conversations, pleasurable food and literature that conjures ideas in me. My mouth must shun out these affinities. (The rule doesn't understand these things)
I must stay still, I mustn't create nuances. In a day like today, the rule will pronounce I am the victor, that these ruins are mine.

Bad Jokes and Illustrations

I used my illustrations to create a series of bookmarks called Bad Jokes and Illustrations. I was planning to sell them at the shops I consign my accessories line, object at. But they were misprinted and I ended up giving them to friends.

I used colored pens, drew the elements separately and composed the layout on Photoshop.

Riding along Shaw

I accompanied Alden to Manila Contemporary to get his painting. We took a wrong turn at San Juan, we were supposed to pass through Sta. Ana using a bridge which taxi drivers call bagong tulay. But we ended up at Shaw Boulevard and of course, heavy traffic greeted us once we made our mistake. Luckily, I had my camera, ended up taking pictures to pass the time.

Actually, I took a lot more photos than this. But my internet connection is making it difficult to post more and the blogspot layout is annoying to use. I'll try to post them some other time. Till the next post ciao!

I think this the first time in years, I've incorporated a room in my work. I guess it was kind of refreshing. The face looks somewhat uneven but I like that. Plus my reference was not larger than two inches. No, that's not my excuse. Ha!

I've been reading Carl Jung lately and I think somehow this relates to the ego and memories. Ego in the sense of consciousness, ego is our basic self, the way we perceive the reality before us. (ok no snickering around) Being in place of certain memories, sometimes I question myself if I was really there, I question the validity of the facts I know.

Sadly,I realized that I took a bad photo of this. It's a bit blurred just like memories.

In Pursuit of Double Happiness

I'll get this out in the open... I have had my own dslr for over 2 years now and have taken two photography classes. I never really liked taking photographs because i think still think my pictures suck.

Nevermind, I'm posting my photos anyway whether I like it or not...anyway who the fuck calls a store double happiness?? I planned on not posting any negative comments about anything but I don't think I can type any longer without thinking shit every time I think of this "noun".

Double Happiness is a store found near some highway we've taken from Olongapo to NLEX (yup not very helpful, that's a very long stretch)...I don't know if its the correct english term.. but it's called a 'stopover' mostly for victory liner buses. We stopped over to burn some nonexistent cash over junk food and to stretch our legs because we've been sitting the car for 30 minutes.

Hence the title of this blogpost...double happiness...Maybe i'll get it if I smoke a joint or thats just it.

Hmmm...

Finally, my first blog post... I have been sifting through my life lately ( ahh very melodramatic!), and nothing.

Exactly, a flood of thoughts run through my head but all I can type is nothing. I've started this blog to help myself...maybe a sort of mediation between the things I do think, thunk or whatever... how do i do this without sounding corny or too self conscious? Very hard. However, this won't be a very personal blog ( though ironically it will involve things that I come across) but just a personal exercise in creating coherent thoughts.

So congrats to me for creating an excuse for more computer time! Woohoo!
